    Critique - Arabian mare

I am planning on going sometime soon to look at this 7 year old, 14hh Arabian mare. I don't physically see anything wrong with her, except that she's chunky, has a short neck, and her legs are slightly short.

Anyone care to give their opinion? (She is not broke to ride yet.)

    Image still from her video.

    And this is her ad:

    Thanks so much!

Doesn't miss too many meals, does she? Other than her chub, she is quite nice.

Owner said she is an extremely easy keeper!

I wanted to retort back that she obviously is a piggy... But I was able to hold it in! LOL

Remove a good 100 pounds from that cute li'l body and the neck will look MUCH nicer. Legs won't seem as short either.

Very nice little arab. She will be a real challenge to fit to a saddle, what with her very short back and well laid back shoulder. She moves with great confidence and balance, should be extremely athletic. She is 7, without training, so you'll need a lot of patience and knowledge.

I was thinking maybe a treeless saddle would be nice to try out first.

And yes, lots of patience and every piece of knowledge I have and more! I'm considering two options if our meet goes well...
    1. Send her off to a trainer after her and I get acquainted to learn a few under saddle basics.

    -OR-

    2. Work with a trainer to get her under saddle.

I will temper this first by saying I do not like this breed for a lot of reasons and usually do not critique horses of this breed for that reason.

That said, this is a nice mare. Weight off as previously said and get her to work. Teach her to lower her head some and raise her back and she will be a nice ride. Maybe not MY cup of tea but this is a good one.
