Critique Horses for Sale

I've been looking around for horses that could bring me up through the higher levels. Here are a few that I found. (:

Royal Grande by Ruben O (by Ulft) out of Grande Saber Mare - Oldenburg - Jumper Horse for Sale

Thankss!

I quite like the colt. He is lovely, beautiful neck set, nice movement, strong drive from behind and lovely hock action. He seems the dual-purpose type, could turn himself to dressage or jumping or do both. [edit; upon further reading he has both dressage AND jumping breeding which I really do like in a jumping horse as it can improve the trot and canter to have that dressage blood - and a good trot and canter is an important asset in a higher-level jumping horse; conversely jump is more inheritable than movement, and there are dressage folks who like some jumping breeding in their dressage horses because it adds more drive and power in the canter]

The filly OTOH has a slightly better shoulder, but doesn't look as good behind. Her hind pasterns scare me [way too upright] as do her very straight hocks.

Of the two, IMO the colt is better.

A CLEAN SLATE FOR THE FUTURE

I looked at the filly and thought, 'Meh, nothing spectacular'.

I looked at the colt and thought, 'Hubba, hubba!'

Can't really say much about the colt, apart from he looks like a fancy mover. No decent conformation shots of either him or the parents.

The filly appears at this stage to have a nice shoulder
Nice and straight through the front legs
I like the length of her back and the slope of her haunches
Back legs are a tad posty

The colt is beautiful! Filly is nice, but I like the colt better.
