Yeah I got an email back and she said that Jack has now found a home and Roman may have a home but she has not recieved confirmation :\ oh well! Time to keep looking, they probably weren't meant to be, and I'm glad they've found homes :) and next time when it seems more definite that they are available and I go to see them, then I'll post it on the forum.

(sorry for double post)

But the frustrating thing is, she said those types of horses that get there are only there for like, a week at most before they find new homes. Which is great, but it's like the second they go on the website I need to contact someone right away. The other frustrating thing is that the woman said whoever is on the "looking for a home" page most likely needs re-training, which costs money to do. My mom won't budge on even paying $500 or $1,000 for a horse. In her eyes it has to be free. Which just annoys me. I know she only told me yesterday that I could seriously start looking and I know that it takes time.

Today she basically told me she expected the horse to be free or we weren't getting it.. then she goes on to say "worst comes to worse, we get you good lessons a few days a week so you become a solid rider again." I so wish she realized that "free horse" usually means "problems or needs training."

Is she aware of all the other costs that are going to go into boarding, feed, tack, vet, farrier, etc?

Make sure you and her are on the same page with all of that.

I would hate for her to not realize that the cost of purchasing a horse is the cheapest part of horse ownership and for you to end up disappointed, if she then reneges on her agreement to let you get a horse.

Oh yeah she's definitely aware of the costs. That's why over the past few years I wasn't able to have one. She always told me that buying the horse is the cheapest part and not why I wouldn't get a horse, it's all the other costs. There was a time when I looked at a horse that was for adoption for $900 I believe, and he was a great horse, but she decided to not get him for me because at the time funds were somewhat limited in my house so therefore we couldn't. But now is different and much better.
