This is a discussion on I took my stallion to a show! Pics! within the Horse Conformation Critique forums, part of the Horse Breeds, Breeding, and Genetics category
So I decided on a whim to take my stallion to a show this last weekend. I just pulled him out of the pasture due to me being 7 1/2 months pregnant, and he was so good:) we ended up with reserve grand champion halter and reserve champion showmanship!
I mean that both on the result AND the fact that you had the ability to get out and about like that at 7 1/2 months gone :) I'm dead impressed. I'm fairly certain at 7 1/2 months pregnant I was looking for any excuse NOT to have to have to be too enthusiastic about too much haha.
ETA: And I'm not a QH person, but I think he looks fab. He's got a fabulous shine to his coat and is one handsome chappy.
Personally I'd like to see a little more angles in his legs (pasterns and hocks) and a cleaner throat latch area (I breed Arabians... LOL) but holy wow.. Can we say BUTT?!
Very pretty head, too. Congrats on the wins!!
He was very well mannered. He screamed a couple times but only at ones that hollered first. I emergency sweated his neck the day before the show lol. It could use more work definitely :) Thanks everyone :) Posted via Mobile Device
I think he is lovely. I would like to see him a little flatter in the knee but that is true about allot of horses, he did very well so I'd say the judge must have liked him, and straight from the pasture. That is good. Congrats!
He's a really good horse! Low hocks, great back, correct everywhere.. a bit light in bone below the knee and hock.. a bit upright in pasterns. Stands close behind... that is about it.
This is a nice one and again.. correct... love his top line and strong coupling.
