My current ride...

Love the palomino horses, couldn't get him to focus on me...someone had conveniently left bits of carrot in the gravel hence him focusing on the dirt.

Started out looking like a pregnant mare, finally starting to get some tone on him yay!

Falicity and Boo Walker like this.

Any conformation tips? I consider myself fairly experienced in handling/working with horses but not so much with conformation (been working with rescue horses where manners and rehabilitation are paramount). I can see obvious things but I have a very limited idea about what people are looking for when critiquing a horse...such as the way the neck is connected, the shoulder, etc...

I guess in the OP I didn't formally ask for conformation thoughts on this guy.....any would be appreciated :)!

When looking at conformation, there is no one 'perfect' build, it all depends on the discipline. So the perfect dressage horse would make a bad racer, etc etc.

So you mustn't forget to say what your plans are when asking for a conformation critique!

I haven't quite figured out what it is that I want to do....I know I don't want to do WP showing with him because I don't care for it, and that is about all I know.

We have done some barrels and gymkhana....he seems to like the barrels okay, falls asleep when doing patterns on the poles. Tried him in an english seat over some trot poles and I am so glad they are pvc because he clip clopped thru those, but on a positive note he is becoming more aware of his feet. He is just starting to do a semi passable shoulder in, but I swear some weeks its like he forgets everything.

He has been sitting out at pasture being leased by someone afraid to ride him, so I have been riding him as my main project for several months now and he is starting to come along. I am kind of at the point to really start working him in a particular direction after finally getting some weight off him and dealing with his behavior issues... Does his conformation scream anything at you? I know some people can look at a horse and tell you that it probably wont be well suited for a particular activity. I am not one of those people lol.
