Next barrel horse??

I have been looking for a new barrel racer *Passively* but I found this guy, he is older but he seems to be pretty good.
What do you think about the price, age etc??

Well, he's 20. That's a major factor.

What level of riding are you? You could maybe look for something that's between 9 and 14 instead, they'd have more years left...

Poor ol' dude. If you get him, I'd sure spring for a vet check, 'cause I'm sure he needs plenty of maintenance with the sort of life he's had....

I would pass on this guy, unless your a complete beginner. Otherwise I think you should look for something younger.

Hey don't be bashing on the old timers! LOL. I had a Morab mare that up until she was put down this summer at the age of 30+ was a hand full to ride and would spin on a dime and give 9cents back, and could freaking run like a bat out of hell.

And I have a not so old 16 year old Arab/Appy gelding that I use for barrels/play days and he's worse then most of the 5 year olds. LOL. That is bringing in 16s in a state barrel ring. :)

Oh, right now I have just been doing fun play day shows, not really anything big, would it still be too hard on him do you think? Should I still pass?

If he vets clean and you can afford the maintenance (and realize that, reasonably, you will only have a few years of riding him competitively), then he may be worth a look.
