He's quite sway backed and appears to have a long back as well. Especially in the coupling where he looks a little week. I'd also like to see a little more muscling in his hind end especially his gaskin just a personal preference though. Other then that he looks good. He has a nice sloping shoulder and appears to be in pretty good balance. Also love his color. There's a special place in my heart for greys <3

I wouldn't call him swaybacked; I think he just has massive withers.

I wouldn't call him swaybacked either, but his back certainly does "pop" out at you, in that it looks different. Huge withers indeed!

I would like to see more muscling and rounding in his hind end. And yup, back is a tad bit long. I'd like to see his throatlatch just a tad tad bit thicker.

Other than that though, he is nice looking!

It is not enough to know how to ride; one must know how to fall.

Well honestly, for some reason, I don't like this guy. It could very well be the play of shadows across his grey coloring that is putting me off and I can't see him well. Keep in mind I am no EXPERT at this by a long shot so this is just a personal opinion.

I see the following:

Fairly upright shoulder. (1st picture, second picture not so much)
Thin in the neck.
That first picture leads me to believe he's cow hocked.
A bit back at the knee.
Weak hind end.
MASSIVE withers.

He has nice color and from what I can tell a fairly decent head.

I'd be interested to see Elana's thoughts.

My main concern with him would be saddle fit. I would think he would be hard to fit a saddle to because it would always be sloping downhill onto his shoulders. And that's not only uncomfortable for the horse but the rider will also feel like they are going downhill as well.

Even though I wouldn't label him as roach backed, he really has the overall "look" of being roach backed because there is such a pronounced dip there. That's the first thing that jumps out at me looking at him.

Other than that, I think he's beautiful! And I mean that sincerely. He's a really attractive horse other than the shape of his back. And that's mainly because I wouldn't want to ride him for fear I would always be riding downhill. I know his withers are fairly level with his croup. But that's not where the bars of the saddle are going to fit. But hey, I just trail ride, so take that with a grain of salt.

Agree with some of what the others have said. He is extremely downhill...combine that with the high withers, and it leads to a weak topline. I happen to LOVE his thin neck!
