Paint Mare Critique

This is my 2001 model registered paint mare. Her name is Baby. She's 15.2 exactly and last time we weighed her she was 1300 pounds. I've had her since 2006, but for 6 years had no contact with her at all. Long story. I just got her back the beginning of December. She is in no way, shape, or form fit here.

Please, feel free to be as harsh as you like. I know her main faults, you will not hurt my feelings at all!

Thank you!

shoulder angle is steep so consequently her neck is set high
front legs look as though they would be fine, were she standing square
back is not a bad length
could just be the level of the ground but she appears to be slightly bum high
steep slope to the croup but otherwise she has nice, hunky hindquarters
again, hind legs give the impression that they would be fairly correct, were she squared up
overall, a sturdily built mare ;)

Haha, yeah she's a big girl! Sorry about her not being completely square. She is standing under in the front. I'm always alone and never have anyone to hold her. I saw her standing almost square so took advantage of it!

Thanks for the critique!

I've got a paint mare like that too.... "sturdy" being an understatement. But anyway, she looks nice... love her expression, especially with the tongue... good timing with the photograph!

I had a gelding like this horse.. in fact, if you just made this horse a chestnut with a blaze and flaxen mane and tail they could be twins. Nice hind leg angles, a bit steep in the shoulder but decent neck set and high point of shoulder may help those things. A bit long and weak in the coupling area and a bit butt high.

That being said, she has a GREAT rear end engine and good bone.

This is a really good horse. She is not refined and not fancy but she has a lot of the right things in the right places and proportions.
