Possible Purchase? Welsh X Gelding

Hey I'm back again. I was just wondering what you thought of this boy? He's a 5 y/o welsh cross. Dam was a paint/QH creature from what I gather. It doesn't really give any information on her or the sire. Just that the sire was a show pony who throws 'quite' foals. He's been very lightly started at 5. Listed as just a couple rides. To my untrained eye and little photos he looks quite well put together and like he has a lot of potential as a kids show pony at 13 hh. Provided he's as quiet as they say he is.

LOL, really hard to say, can't see much of the pony for the saddle and rider!

As a kids horse he may do ok. However you need to look him over well. Get some side angles without tack on and post them. I am not sure I like his conformation that well.

Holy camped out behind, Batman! Unless they've taught him to park out (doubtful). He's also really light on bone. I don't know...there's just something I'm not liking about him...

All pictures have that saddle and rider on him. I may just have to send an email and see if a CL seller can actually come up with good conformation pictures and a decent video (riderless). My main concern now is that the CL seller has him listed as 'possible kids pony' after a couple rides and well... I definitely know people who would buy him (He doesn't cost much for a decent sized pony in my area and he's not ugly. Except that quarter head), bring him home, and slap little kids on him on day one. And then when he doesn't work out he goes on to a life either rotating through a sale barn every year, one of those notorious give-aways that just cycle into terrible situations, or eventually meat plant.

Well email has been sent. Let‘s see how willing they are to send pictures. One other picture makes him look a little narrow in the chest for may taste but I‘m not sure if it‘s the angle and lighting.

It is possible that he is taking that "camped out" stance in part because he is such a small guy and the rider/saddle is a little big for him. Also, horses that are green under saddle will sometimes stand awkwardly because they feel unbalanced with a rider on board.

I think he's worth going to take a look!

He look alright to me conformation wise. No major faults but a few pics of him naked would help. The saddle the young lady is using is too long for his back, the bars are almost to his hips.

That saddle makes me shudder. It's so long for the poor boy. I understand using an adult saddle but man. If he comes home with me, he's definitely making a transition to the lighter English saddle (plus Welshes are just so much more elegant in a nice English rig) and/or a much smaller western one.

Anyway, email sent, I hope I get a reply soon. I'll post the pics as soon as I do (if I do. And this is why I hate CL).
