What are you breeding for?

Just on conformation alone, I would go with the 2nd horse
The first seems to stand under himself, his back is too short, his neck is set high and thick and he possibly is a bit posty in the back legs.
The 2nd, Nitro, is better conformed in my opinion

I use my horses to drive carriages as well as riding. LIL ya I like the second one better too. I also been having the thoughts on Isaac the grey shire I so love that studs personality and I met him in person.

I'd prefer more bone on my heavy horses then either of these studs have. Although out of the two I would pick the second. Are you looking to refine a heavier mare?

I like the second as well, what does your mare look like. Would he compliment her ?

You want a Shire to have a short coupled back. Like you want a Morgan to have a short back...
I personally would like to see the first horse set up properly. I like him better.

Yeah, got my vote on the second one as well, seems better put together.

I will also vote for number two. He's also done a ton of winning in the ring, since he was a baby. He's still very young I believe.

That said, in the US in recent years, Shire breeders have been breeding for taller and finer boned horses, than Shires of the old and original type, in the UK. There are some UK imports and their offspring in the US, which are more of the old type.

This is what I'd still like to see in Shires, but seldom do.
