"Sporthorse" Critique

3 year-old PMU baby, all the ancestry I got on her was Draft/TB cross (so can I list her as "Warmblood" for less confusion??) She was being advertised as maturing over 16.2 but sits at about 15-15.1 HH currently. Ugliest little creature when I bought her but her whole attitude has changed since then. I couldn't ask for a better horse... (well, maybe a higher wither... finding a saddle to fit her is near-impossible aside from custom ordering it.)

What do you think that she would excel in? She enjoys jumping and basic agility thus far. :)

Draft/TB does not equal "warmblood". She is a draft cross. Calling her a warmblood would probably cause confusion based on her bloodlines. I don't want to critique..but good luck with her :)

Agree ^^ she's still growing, I wouldn't worry about her conformation yet. (I also wouldn't jump her at 3...) And peeps get pretty up in arms should you dare to call a hot blood + cold blood = warmblood. Tiptoe carefully around that :) I'd just say TBX or draftX.. both are fabulous all on their own, no 'wb' neccesary

Not sure if you were saying that about my comment and if I sounded snarky I'm really sorry..lol. Wasn't trying to be at all. I have just recently had 2 long discussions on HOT+COLD doesn't equal warm even though it does make sense...lol.

OP- I would also be worried about jumping her at 3...all horses, but especially the bigger built ones can damage their legs permanently by jumping them too early.

Just wondering...do you know what her draft part is?

Omgosh no, not trying to be snarky at all...sorry if it came off that way!! I was more poking fun at some of the lengthy debates I've seen on here about it. :) was trying to save you from it. Your horse is very very cute, btw...I probably should've started with that!

Okay! Thanks everyone. I appreciate the feedback! :)

I haven't ridden her while jumping... it's just been little set ups to send her over; give her something challenging to think about! However, due to the new information, I will leave it to ground rails until she's more matured. Also, I will check out Collegiate Diploma, thanks Sion!

she's got a lot of growing to do, looks to have the smaller draft hip and huge powerful shoulders. looks to have good bone. cute face and kind eye. For a saddle I recommend the Klimke dressage saddle, amazing saddle and I just bought a perfect used one with all the trimmings on ebay for $400. Get a wide tree. My gelding also has to have custom saddles except this one because of his huge shoulder and high knee action, anything that doesn't have the proper flare in front sores his back. Here's a pic of him for comparison.
