Videos + Pictures, What do you think?

So.. this is the 4yr.old gelding I got about 2 weeks ago. I went ahead and finally got some pictures and a small video of him. Keep in mind he was being lazy, and we lost my whip... sooo... haha ya. I kept asking for a canter at the end, wasn't happening. Anyways, it should have sound so you might want to turn down your volume ;). I mostly just trail ride, but do you guys think he would do good in open/local shows? He isnt registered (atleast I didnt get any paperwork anyways). What do you guys think of his movement and conformation? What do you feel he would excell in. Thank you :).

PS: I took the videos and pictures by myself. So I know there not the greatest, he has the patience of a 5yr.old child with ADHD . I can probably get more, I will just get assistance next time haha.

(Sorry if the pictures are big, tried my best to resize them when I put them in.)

I can't say much about conformation, but I love his color and the way he moves. Very eyecatching.

Now hopefully someone helpful comes along.

Thank you :). He is one breath taking boy that's for sure. I also love his color, all of my horses are spotted actually lol. We love pinto coloring .

He has a very nice, easy lope that would do well in Western Pleasure locally. I would try some Hunter Under Saddle with him as well.

I was hoping he would do good for WP, when I got him the owner rode him in a trot and he seemed to have a nice natural jog. Unfortunately he hated the bit she was using on him and kept tossing his head :/. I notice when he's moving he drops his head a lot naturally. I've also considered doing HUS, because he seemed to have a nice extended trot, but I don't ride english so I don't know if he has the movement for English riding. I've always wanted to try though :).

The photos aren't squared up on flat ground and taken at a square on angle. I know you were on your own and did the best you could. From what I can see, he has very good conformation. HIs back is a bit on the long side and he seems to be built downhill. I am sure he'd do well in WP.

One note on the "free lunging" you were doing. You don't want to do too much "clucking", especially if he is not reacting to it by making a noticeable change. YOu cluck when you need him to move more (you were clucking when he was doing ok in the canter), when he goes, stop clucking. And, if you cluck at him and get no change, then by gosh, get in there and GET a change. You will make your clucking become meaningless background noise, which I think the horse is already thinking.

It was hard to get in there and do anything since I didnt really have anything to get him going, and I wasn't going to chase him around lol. I need to get a whip; I kept clucking to get him to canter. But yes its obvious he was ignoring me. I have a trainer coming out this weekend to take a look at him, so we'll see how it goes :). Im glad people think he would do well/ok in open WP classes.
