Smile What do y'all think? :)

Here is a picture of my barrel horse. To me, he looks like a race horse(which would make sense because he was lol) What do y'all think of his conformation?

Strength lies within the heart but the strength to trust lies between the horse and his rider.

In all honesty, I wouldn't look at him and say, "That's a barrel horse."

Form what I can tell, his front legs looks fairly straight. He is very fine throughout the chest, neck and hind-quarters. His neck is also very fine. I'd like to see him with more conditioning and muscling everywhere.

How old is he? If he's 3, that would explain why he doesn't look very powerful and muscular.

That's all I can say, and it's just my opinion.

He has pretty high knees & hocks, making him more prone to injury. He appears to have a hunter bump, maybe, has the shape but can't tell from the picture, but not a big deal anyways. Nice neck. He doesn't look skookum or catty enough to chase tincans. To me, he screams pleasure horse with that long neck. Ridden correctly, this guy would be great in rail/hat classes.

This is when i first got him a few months ago. He was thrown out to pasture for a few years, explaining the lack of muscle. Believe it or not, his is actually 12 this year and is a 1D barrel horse in the NBHA down here in Texas! This is also the MOST powerful horse I have EVER ridden and i ride A LOT of horses because my aunt has 10 and during the summer i work at a rescue for off the track thoroughbreds. This horse is small but VERY fast and VERY powerful. He is extremely sure-footed too. I thought the same thing that y'all are telling me when i first saw him. The only reason why i went to look at him is because a close family friend was selling him for cheap... When i rode him the first time i knew that i HAD to have him lol

I do not see barrel horse or a race horse.
I do not like his legs (like waresbear said "high knees & hocks, making him more prone to injury").
I do not like the way his neck ties into his chest, he has like no chest.
He does not have the back end that will really help him get around those barrels, does not look powerful enough.
I am not saying he could not do it, but I do not think he would ever run any fast times, by the time he gets started he would have to start shutting down to make his turns.
Just my opinion.
He looks like he may be a good english pleasure horse though.
