Okay. So i thought i would make a new thread about my riding/ training my new boy: Zip.

He is a OTTB 16.1 hh gelding.
will be 4 in may.

I am waiting to get a good chiro out here for him and a trainer before doing a whole lot with him. Mean while i am just lunging him, and i got on to walk him around today.
I have only ridden him a handful of times, today was the first since December.

Here are a few videos of him and pictures!
Critique as you wish!

Video of todays ride:

Every time I look at this horse I like him. He has enough rear end although he is quite sickle hocked.

One thing he needs is MORE WEIGHT. He is thin. The view from the rear shows a distinct line between muscles around the tail and down his butt to above his legs. These are called "poor lines." He is a bit poor on weight. He also shows his ribs and he has a winter coat.

I think this horse, while a bit down hill and sickle hocked, will be a very nice looking animal with adequate weight.

In Chapel Hill for awhile! Right now AZ for a quick visit but back in a couple days! He looks very much like my old mare. I think he'll make a good a real good all around horse. My mare was an off the track appendix quarter horse and my trainer retrained her to be a HUS and WP horse. After I bought her I continued showing her in HUS and WP, and then needed some variety so I hauled her to a team penning a few times, rodeo queened with her, and jumped her. She was probably the best horse I've ever owned. Such a sweetie. Ha and my forum name is her name.

I would lay off riding him completely until his back is done, then let him settle once it is done... My horse looked totally normal, bar horrendously high head carriage, so I thought it was probably nothing. Had him checked and EVERYTHING was out in his back, neck, poll, ribs and hips. So this horse may be very very bad, as from looking at the previous videos, he was not tracking up what so ever. So riding might do more harm than good right now, and he needs more weight and muscle before carrying a rider. You have to remember, he's only three, so there is plenty of time for riding later on ;)
