Started having trouble last night with the forum using Internet Explorer. The forum will open, I might even be able to look at a couple of threads and then it disappears not to return. It will still show up in the tab but will not refresh and just shows a blank page no matter how long I wait. I can close the tab and reopen the forum but after that first time it will disappear almost immediately. IE is not giving me trouble with anything else or any other forum. Horse Forum still works fine if I open it with Chrome but I don't like using it because it's slow as cold molasses.
Any suggestions on what I might need to do at my end?
I haven't used the old version for ages so maybe it is that that's causing the problem.
Let us know here if it continues - maybe try the new version and see if it makes a difference
I have the same type of problems on both the IPad and the desktop.
It is sporadic, matter of fact DH just announced to me "the blankety-blank internet sucks" lol
I also use Explorer on the devices but we have WiFi thru Verizon.
I keep the cookies cleared on the IPad and that seems to help a tiny bit. It also seems like there are peak times of the day when I have more issues than other times.
I also use the Classic BUT I belong to other forums and can experience the same issues.
There are times I have to close out HF and open it back up to get it to work --- for awhile, lol
Mine isn't sporadic. it started 2 days ago and hasn't improved. Windows had 2 updates that it wanted me to do so I thought that might help but that wasn't the problem either. I like the Classic version so much better than the new I hope it's something that can be fixed.
I was having the same problem. I'm using the classic format. Got a blank screen when I tried to log in. Tried to comment as a guest on this thread, but got the message that I had to log in. I've been stuck in "read only" for a week. Looks like it's solved now though. Thanks to the team!
^^^ I still get a blank screen on my desktop. I've never had a blank screen on my IPad.
While I have experienced the same issues as JCnGrace, I need to correctly say that my IPad uses Safari and my desktop used Explorer to connect to the Internet.
Now it won't even let me switch back to Classic. When I try it will just reset itself to full every durn time. @jaydee, do you reckon they're trying to pull us hold outs into the 21'st century? LOL
They might be JCnGrace!!!
As a fellow more 'senior' person I actually found the new version a lot easier once I'd overcome my 'thing' about anything different/changes!! Everything's bigger - when I switched back to the old version to look at something I felt as if I needed to rush out and get some bifocals
I'll pass this thread over to the techie team via the moderating link we've got as it might get their attention quicker.
If you're having IE issues with using HF, please try adding us to the compatibility mode of the browser. For more details on how to do that, you can do a quick Google search (such as "how to add a site to IE compatibility mode"). I hate to say it but IE is on its last legs. Microsoft does NOT update it anymore and eventually, the browser will be phased out for their new Edge browser. If the compatibility mode fix doesn't work for you, I would encourage you to explore using different browsers such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
Just an update that everything is back to normal between IE and Horse Forum. I didn't do the compatibility thing because I didn't know how.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
