Is there any secret to getting more help and answers. I find that a lot of people get tons of answers and mine only get like 5.

If a thread has gone dead or quiet, make another post on it with "bumped" or "anyone". I think it has to be at least 6 letters.

Sometimes with other threads getting posts, one that doesn't, gets pushed to the next page and isn't seen as easy by others. It also depends on when you post. Late at night or on the weekends usually get few responses.

Aint that the truth, the simple questions can cause a whole debate, but others more complicated, get a few answers, I will look and if I have nothing to add then I won't join in.

Remember as well there those who think that endless posts agreeing with something, especially when it isn't what the OP wanted to hear are not what it should be about.

I I am a member of other animal forums and they have been much more friendly and way more helpful. Guess that just shows how different horse people are from other livestock people.
Mmmmm I'm sorry you don't find the place friendly and helpful, but by voicing this I'm not sure it is going to feel any friendlier.

The 1st thing you have to do is be patient, not everyone will answer posts immediately sometimes you still may not get as many answers as you want.

But, starting a thread with the Same Exact Question in 3 different parts of the Forum, may get you banned, it is against the rules to start multiple threads about the same subject.

The duplicates will be removed in a few minutes.....

Im guessing your talking about my posts? I was not aware that was a rule. Sorry. I was trying to post to different ones to get different people to see. My one in conformation was different than the ones in training. I am a member of other animal forums and they have been much more friendly and way more helpful. Guess that just shows how different horse people are from other livestock people.

People put a lot of time into and thought into answering questions, if the same question is asked over and over or re-worded slightly and posted all over the forum that is not allowed, it is a matter of respect for other peoples time.

Sorry you feel that people did not answer your question fast enough for you, but that has nothing to do with being friendly, it has to do with people may be busy and have not had time to see your post!

I posted this one before I posted the others. I was speaking about in the past. And if they are too busy then why would they be on a forum to answer questions? I am just saying, it wasn't about answering questions fast enough. I was simply posting it in different areas so that I could ask the same question to a different crowd. Not everyone clicks on certain tabs. I was simply trying to show my question to more people.

And if they are too busy then why would they be on a forum to answer questions?
Life happens to all of us. Those of us that have full time jobs besides caring for the animals and doing things that need to be done, we don't have much time left. Most of the time, I only get to answer questions after work at 2:30 AM or on the weekends. There are many threads that I don't see because of that. Also, I use my phone to be on here. The mobile version only shows the most recent posts unless I search for them. Let's say you start a thread during the day. If there are no recent posts on it when I get on, I won't see it.

Honestly, this site is pretty friendly. Only when someone starts getting snark or rude, it can seem the opposite. Or if the OP gets responses that they don't want to hear or listen to, it can seem that way.

I think your Title was well written.

Many people click on "New Posts" when they 1st log in, this shows all the posts that have been made since their last visit.

I have seen threads and made some myself that have sat with no answers for 2 or 3 days, then all of a sudden they get 10 answers or more.

Maybe the people with answers just have not been around for a while, IDK

You guys are missing the point of this thread i started. It wasn't to gripe at you guys. It was simply asking WHAT CAN I DO to make my posts stand out more and get answers.

Also, I wasn't saying bad things about people being busy with other stuff. My point was, that if you are so busy, why would you get on a forum to answer questions in a rush? If you are busy then do the things you need to do rather than answer my or anyone else's questions. I understand not all questions will be answered thoroughly. I was simply asking what I could do to spruce my question up so it was more likely to not be overlooked.

Make sure the title describes what you want. Don't just put "Help" or something like that.

By one of the other posts on here, it was mentioned that your thread was about ottb's. I don't know much about them so it would have been one I would not have looked at.

When asking your question, don't write a novel but give good information and details. Use punctuation! Too many don't and ramble on. It can make it confusing to read and understand. Not saying you do it.

If you ask super specific questions about a specialized topic, people may read it but may not know the answer. I've started a couple of threads that nobody responded to, no big deal, people may not know what I'm talking about or my post may have gotten burried. No biggie. I've used the "bump" feature a couple of times; sometimes it helps, other times it doesn't.

You got to remember this is a forum; people from all over the planet log in and out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They answer what they can, ask their own questions and move on.

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
