I am going to a show soon. Please post any show hints, tips and tricks that you use to win!
I have a standardbred and a miniature I am showing at an A & P show.
I am also interested in tips for training horses for shows as well as getting your horse looking its best.
For in hand showing, train with equipment as similar to your show equipment as possible, and do it every day. Several short sessions work better than one long one. And emphasize standing still.
Clip your horses to make them look their best. Some of this is dependent on breed, and I don't know much about standardbreds. Clip white socks/blaze about a week before the show. This will make it easier to clean.
Wash, condition, detangle tails, and put them up in bags. This keeps them clean and reduces show day labor. If you don't have tail bags, you can use old socks.
Make sure all show equipment is clean and fits well. Also, make sure that your clothes are clean, the most appropriate and flattering color, and fit well. Posted via Mobile Device
