    I know they roach manes on Saddlebreds for showing, sometimes.
    That's all I can picture "bald" meaning, unless it's the face or a bad body clip.

    On an unrelated note, I body clipped my horse when we were showing through winter, and the barn owner, who breeds Paints and NEVER bodyclips, always teased us that he was bald.
    This is how I imagine a bald horse. (This is from the Pixar short "For the Birds")

    Some people clip endurance arabians pretty close and remove most of the manes to aid in cooling.
    I tend to think a short summer coat will hold the water on and have it remove heat as it evaporates, some feel it works better to let it run off imediately .
    I think it is better cooling with sweat hair on, better cooling on skin if you have lots of added water. Depends on the ride I guess.
