Bit in the butt

How many of you have been bit in the butt while picking out hooves? I got bit a couple weeks ago by a new mare. It wasn't bad at all, just a little nip. But now I'm so paranoid. Even with horses I know won't do anything. I have to angle my butt to the side to keep it out of the line of fire, lol.

yep, been there! The horse definitely got a reprimand though! Hope you're okay!

Vega would always try and nip me in the butt when i pick out her front hooves. I'd put one of my feet up so she'll turn her head into that, or i'd put out the hoof pick (not the metal end) to her nose, so she'll run into that. I'm at the point now that, all i have to do is say "ehhh!" and she'll stop right away.

I was thinking about working around that, but i figured that the horse would either a. have to learn that's unacceptable, or b. that the horse would try and make it more of a game.. (let's see how far away i can get her to stand and still be able to pick up my feet)

I do hope you're ok though!

Haha yes, at my old barn, one of the lesson horses did it. But then again, her owner was a bit harsh on her so she was usually moody. :( & it hurt like heck!! Luckily, Lexi never does that. :P

Ride more, worry less.

Our 2 year olds will nibble the buttox once in awhile I usually just wiggle my butt and they stop
I was cleaning Vida's feet the other day and she bent her head way down and about goosed me. Didn't bite just stuck her head down between my legs. Really weird, anybodys elses horse give them a sniff? Maybe she didn't know I was a girl LOL
