Black tail turns orange in the sun

So who else has this problem and what do you use to prevent it? It looks horrible and all fried by the end of the summer and I end up dyeing it but I'd rather prevent it from happening in the first place...is there a product with spf in it that you use?

I think you get tail bags , there to keep your horses tail clean for shows . You could get one of them?

If she tears out tail bags, then I think your best bet is to just dye it.

I haven't heard of those, but I doubt they would do much if they existed. However, I've never put sunscreen in my hair to keep it from getting more blonde in the summer.

we just let our gelding's hair turn orange xD he's a therapy horse though, so no one really cares. We call it his 'flame hair'

I kind of like it. My guy has red highlites in his tail. I tell him he looks like Julia Roberts.

You just have to see your distance...you don't have to like it.
