Braiding 101

So I want to braid my horses tail. I am a guy and I am not good at doing hair I mean even my head is shaved. So my question is how do I start or am I better off to just find some one to do it for me?

Two options -

Practice or find a cute girl. :)

I suggest going to Hobby Lobby or a craft store, and picking up some yarn. Cut three equal lengths. Tie the ends in a knot. Practice braiding. You can youtube videos on how to braid a regular braid. Then you can practice on your horse.

Thennnnn...you can practice 'french braiding'.

Or, you can find a cute girl at the barn or a show to do it for you.....

Braid your horse's tail how? Like this ( Google Images), or like this (Google Images )?
Because for the former, I would hire someone to braid for you. For the latter, just learn to do it yourself. Good luck.

Just remember to start the braid below the dock, otherwise you could cut off circulation. It's just a simple braid, you'll get the hang of it.

The second ones just a plait... just take three strands section of hair and twist one strand on the outside with the middle, then twist the other strand on the outside with the middle. Then twist the first side again and so on....

Get someone to show you - its dead easy and should take much...

Of you were wanting to braid like the first pic - -its much harder to learm :)

Since you board at a show barn, pay for lunch for some girl who shows hunters or jumpers to train you. It's just a matter of braiding by continually adding new pieces on the right and left of the middle braid. With a little practice you'll be able to do it at LEAST as well as I do, which is okay. Instead of yarn, use rubber bands when you practice, which any tack shop sells.
