Braiding a long mane for hunt seat

Next winter I'm going to show my mare in hunt seat. She has a beautiful mane that is very long and thick. I'm only going to do unrated shows, and was told I don't have to cut/thin her mane if I braid it. My question is: what type of braid is good for a a hunt seat horse with a long mane? I want to start practicing soon!

Your only option really is to do a running braid. They are super easy once you get the hang of it! Just make sure you do it tight!
