Can You Use Horse Clippers On A Goat?

Okay, so this isn't technically horse related, but seeing as many members of this forum have goats, I hope someone can help me out!

At one of the barns I manage we have a few goats. One of the goats has a lot of trouble with overheating due to her thick coat. Today it was slightly humid but only 73 degrees and she was hyperventilating and had to be brought in and hosed off. I've decided it would be best so shave her but was wondering due to the fact that goat hair is so thick and coarse, can you use horse clippers on them? And if so, can anyone recommend a good brand? I only have small face clippers that wouldn't be able to handle the job. I'll have to buy a pair soon before the summer comes and we're facing 90% humidity and temps in the 100's . . . .

Clippers aren't really species specific, but heavier hair coats require heavier clippers and different blades. Except for animals where you want to save their wool, sheep, llamas, alpacas, then you need special shearing clippers.

I have a boer and a Nubian, neither has very thick coats and I'm sure my Oster a-5 with a 7 or 10 blade would do a fine job, but It would be faster and easier if I used my Oster clipmaster. That thing is huge and would probably be able to shave a yak. I love it, but they are around $200 so it is an investment. There are a couple other threads about clippers now. I think anything that can handle body clipping or coarse leg hair would be suitable for the goat.

Lol I tried to shear a sheep with horse clippers..not a good idea..I knew I had to oil the blades every so often with a horse..well, turns out that sheep have very oily wool and I kept getting the clippers stuck and it FOREVER to finish because I had already started and it would have looked crazy stupid if I didn't finish..It didn't help that the sheep was having a panic attack the whole time..I felt really bad..
