Christmas Decorating

I'm going caroling on horse-back tonight (yes, tonight; give me a break here, I've had test after test all week long to study for in school) and in order to ride you have to have battery operated Christmas lights on your horse in some way. I've got the lights, but figuring out how to put said lights on him is becoming the problem. I was thinking about doing something through the mane and tail, and then maybe something on the body (I have three strands; they're not terribly long, though.). If I don't get an answer in time I'm sure I can figure something out, but I thought maybe if anyone had any suggestions they could throw me a line? It might save time and frustration. I've got other decorations, but I've got a pretty good idea of how to get those attached.
His mane's fairly long, covering practically all of his neck, and his tail's long and full too.
So, any ideas?

Do you have a breastplate for him? I think it would look cool if you put the lights on that (maybe secure it with string or something)

I have no idea how you would attach it through his mane... unless you decided to do a running braid and you sectioned his mane into 2 sections and used the lights as the third.

If you don't use a breastplate you could get a wreath and put the lights in the wreath. You could also try putting the lights on your saddle or something.

I don't have a breastplate, since I ride English, but I do have a martingale with a neck-strap that I could maybe use, without attaching it to the bridle. I was actually thinking about doing a lattice braid, and running lights through it...Probably just be the top of the mane that I would do...But thank you for the suggestion. :)

Okay, so here are some pictures of him once he got all dolled up. XD It was an...interesting ride. Very crazy, though. Ah well.






I don't look so great, but I like his decorations. XD It's hard to see the lights...But they really glowed brilliantly when it got dark.
