Crazy grooming techniques or tricks?

I am looking to try something new to get my horse looking spic and span for the shows coming up.

I am wondering if any of you have any tricks or things that you do which are not popular, but which work.

For example, I use white vinegar on stains to make them come out on my horse's legs...

Do you have any crazy grooming techniques or tricks that actually work well?

I'm not sure if it's "show worthy" or if it's even that odd, but when I was first told about it, I went "What?"

I had a gelding that had a fly allergy and HATED to be fly sprayed. A friend of mine (whose gelding also had a fly allergy, but not as bad as my gelding) suggested giving him an apple cider vinegar rinse once a week. Not only did it help keep the flies off and soothe any bites that were on him, his coat became very shiny and soft. He ended up LOVING his "spa days" when he'd get his vinegar rinse and his tail re-braided.

Green Broke
Rub corn starch into white on legs right before showing to get a really bright white

I have never heard of rinsing them with apple cider vinegar. I give it to them in their grain though, so when they sweat it repels the flies, and helps keep them out of the feces. It works for people too.

Buy Dawn with bleach alternative. I have a horse with four white legs and a white tail!!!! It is all I ever use on him and it works wonderfully.

A small scoop of Oxy Clean in your soapy water does wonders on light/white horses. I use it for my gray mare's tail, it does a great job!

I always bring baby wipes with me to the show, then give my mare a wipe down before tacking up. Gets rids of dust you didn't even know was there and makes the coat really shiny with minimum effort. I find it particularly good when she picks up dust/old hairs that were stuck on the inside of her travel rug.

Save time fly spraying by putting it in a pump sprayer with a wand. They cost about $10, perfectly hold 2 gallons and most horses don't mind them nearly as much as they do the hissing of the spray bottle.
