I use hand sanitizer, my dog's vet recommended it actually. The levels of alcohol, etc., kill it. What I do as a precaution is keep one of those little personal hand sanitizers in my grooming box- I just use the plain type, sine I don't know if my dog's and horses will react to the different "flavors."
