Did I do a good job on cutting her mane?

I cut my horse's mane yesterday, I was going to pull it, but I wimped out because I didn't want to hurt her.

I think it needs a bit of touching up, but I did it with my splint on (I dislocated my middle finger) so it was kinda hard. But I think she looks really good with a short mane!

Here she is with a longer mane:

This was my first time cutting her mane. I think it looks good, my mom hates it (she hates any horse that doesn't have a long mane, she's one of those natural horse people ), but I would love to know what you guys think!

I think it looks great for your first time! Perhaps just a tad bit shorter than I would have trimmed, but not necessarily bad. Your mare is gorgeous and I love her halter! ^_^

Welcome to the forum, by the way :) Glad you found us!

I think it looks great! Personally I like long manes but some horses look nicer with short manes. You did great.

Thanks! If the vet clears her, I'll be doing jumping with her, don't want a ton of mane flying in my face. It hurts!

That sounds fun! I've never tried jumping before but I want to, so many people say it's fun. I hope the vet clears her? :)

It is! I'm only jumping a foot with her until the vet comes, and if he doesn't clear her for jumping, then we'll do dressage. I can't wait until he comes!

My mom is the same way! "The mustangs don't have their manes cut!" Well, no, but they are also filthy, matted, and burr ridden.

I think she looks great! I like my manes short too. You have to let us know if she is okay-ed for jumping :)

Haha, yep, that's what my mom says.

And I will! The vet comes out in May, just in time for her birthday too. She's turning 21! I can't wait! I'm pretty sure she's going to be okay for jumping though, she can jump 4 foot pasture fence to run to me when I bring grain, I'm sure she can handle 3 foot jumps.
