First Ever Attempt....Proud of Myself

So today it was 101 with a heat index of about 112. The boys were all so hot I decided to braid up their manes while the sun was out. I decided to try and attempt a running braid. Keep in mind I have never done this before and I have never even been able to french braid before.

How did I do?

The first picture is Charlie the pony. He has like a triple mane going is so thick and the poor thing was sweating up a storm.
The second is my handsome boy. His was a tad easier for me because it's a little thinner.

I don't know anything about braids to be honest, Indie always just rubs them into a tangled mess so I stopped trying. But from my standpoint, those look really good!! Better than I could do anyways LOL

Green Broke
A little tip is to try and keep them as tight and towards the top of the neck as possible :] but very good for your first try

I think you done wonderfully, especially for your first try. Keep working on it and they will get higher and tighter.

You did good for a first try. Theres a braiding solution you can buy and it helps keep those braids tight and high. It works really well. Keep practicing, then go to shows and make some extra money braiding for people. My daughter makes a couple hundred bucks a weekend at shows.

Thanks guys! I didn't even think I'd be able to do it since I don't even know how to french braid people hair haha.

That looks really good! I tried it on my barn owner's Arab and it looked terrible lol, it took me forever to get the hang of it. Your's look much better!

I believe you did really good for your first try. I have tried doing it before, and now with three horses I can get enough practice. With horses that have rediculously thick manes like my mare Gypsy, sometimes doing that kind of braid can be insanely difficult. XD

They stayed perfectly. Just like I had just put them in. I'm going to redo them tomorrow just because the horses are muddy and are getting baths.

I'll try again on show day saturday and post pics!
