First time doing the diamond plait

I know it's a very easy plait to do, but I've never done it. So yesterday I decided to do it to my long Thoroughbred's mane, since it was hot and she was being good. Now keep in mind this was also a training session for the horse considering the fact that she freaks out when anyone touches her neck. I had to brush through a bunch of dreads and use a lot of treats in order to even start doing anything. none the less I am very proud of my girl! also I know it turned out bad, but I still like it.

Also in a side note. I had troubles with the ends. I also didn't do much because she was starting to act up a little.

It's been years since I've done that to my pony's mane... though I always liked the way it looked. It just isn't as practical as a running braid and I rarely have time to do it.

Yours looks great though!

Thank you. I've been trying to do the running braid but still haven't mastered it. It keeps falling out on me.

Yeah, it took me several months to perfect my running braid, but now that I have it down, it's the quickest and most effective for getting all of that mane off her neck while I'm riding. It's so thick she gets pretty sweaty under it in the summer months.

Practice makes perfect. Unfortunately it sounds like your girl may not be as tolerant of you standing there for a half hour at a time fiddling with her mane. My pony could care less. She's happy not to be working!

Yeah. I think that she should be fine after I work with her a little more. She was so much more tolerant of me touching her mane after I was done with her. She is a quick learner.
