Hair Loss?

When I bought Magic, she had a nice, decently long mane. Over the months, her mane has started to sort of lean forward. It doesn't lay flat on her neck anymore, and I was wondering if there was anything I could do to make it lay flat and stay that way. Also, I think some of her mane is falling out. It does seem to have thinned and when I lay it down on her neck, it doesn't seem as long. (ofcourse it doesn't stay down on her neck) So I was just wondering if there was anything I could do to make it lay flat. She just looks so silly because it sticks up like a mohawk. Don't know if this means anything, but Poke's mane has not done this. It's only Magic's.

Maybe you could try adding some extra minerals to her diet like biotin. My vet recomended that to my paint who has horrible feet, he said horses hooves and hair is just like people's nails and hair. But adding minerals would make it grow better and become thick and shiny.

It's falling forward from her head being down grazing. I would guess that it's getting thinner from you brushing it trying to get it to lay right. You can try braiding it in loose braids and see if that will get it to straighten back up. I'm going to try ragging my horses mane because the other horses out at my pasture have chewed a lot of her off, but have quit, and you can see a clear line of where it is quite thick at the top 5-6 inches, then thin the rest of the way down. I may just chop off the thin section, she grows mane quicker than any horse I've ever seen.
