Has Anyone Ever Used a Sleezy?

Has anyone ever used one?
I was looking at this one: CentaurŽ LycraŽ Hood with Zipper < Underlayers < Horse Blankets & Sheets|Dover Saddlery.
My lease horse has decided that it's great fun to rub at his braids overnight, and it will NOT be fun to redo hunter braids the morning of a show. Has anyone ever used one, and if so, did it actually help? They're a bit pricey and I don't really want to buy one and find out it doesn't work after all.
Thanks!

They definitely work, and are super helpful for taming/keeping braids flat for a show.

Is your horse out in turnout, or stalled? Just keep him away from trees, snaggy fencing, etc. No brand I've found will hold up to the slightest snare.

Mine lasted me through a couple of show seasons, until one show, I wasn't paying attention, and left him out in the one paddock full of trees. Whoops.

I really like mine. But like DV said, they'll tear if he rubs on something rough, but they'll be fine in a stall.

I love mine, keeps my boy nice and tidy in his braids, or if we are going for lessons I wet his frizz down and travel him in the sleazy and he looks great

.. Well this is just my opinion!!

I don't like the idea/look... Sure they make the horse shiny and keeps their braids in.. But it looks uncomfortable. They basically are like spandex for us. I sure wouldnt like spandex covering my head and neck!!! It would be uncomfortable, and you would think it would not be pleasant if you got a little sweat/warm under it. People REALLY need to look at horses and ask ourselves "Would you like this on yourself?" And even then, we are used to this stuff (for the most part) they arent made to be covered in spandex (well neither are we!!). I would strongly recommend not getting one- even for overnight before a show. Again, this is my opinion, and I feel very strongly about it- so good luck convincing me otherwise If you are wondering more about them- feel free to message me!

The NFL Tough Robinhood

I use the Friar Tuck on my horse, it works great. I won't buy anything but Robin Hood's products because you can buy the NFL Tough, HEAVY duty lycra fabric and it lasts a very long time. I've got one that I've been using for 4 years. They do cost a bit more than the cheap lightweight ones but you don't have to replace them every year or sooner.

Another thing I like about the Robin Hood products is that they also go in between the front legs unlike most other products. The ones that just fasten around the girth and the front portion doesn't go in between the legs tends to ride up especially under a blanket and that can be uncomfortable (think girdle that rolls up or down). The Robin Hoods stay in place and wash up like a dream.

I'm ONLY talking about the NFL Tough version, I don't know that the regular 6.2 oz fabric wears any better than anyone else's because I don't buy that one. I also don't like their regular tail bags AT ALL. I've bought one and was very unimpressed and threw it away after less than a month.

Thanks for all the information! He is turned out during the day, and stalled overnight. If I were to get one, my plan would be to braid the evening before, after he is in his stall, then put it on and take it off the morning of before we trailer down to the shows. So it would be on probably 9:30 p.m. To 4 or 5 a.m. Thanks again for all your help!

A very good friend of mine, in fact the leasee of the stallion I bred my QH mare to had a pattern for making sleezzy mane tamers for yearlings. She sewed and made many a lycra mane tamer for her stallions babies.

We always keep them on a few days before shows, to smooth the hair, and keep our guys clean. I know some people who keep them on all winter to prevent the winter coat from growing to look sleek during shows.
