Having to LONG or a mane and tail

I think long mane and tails are so beautiful and majestic BUT there is such thing as taking it to far and having to long of a mane and tail

I think taking it to far is there hair touching the ground. What is the point of having it that long? I understand in Arabian and other horses shows they like it longer But that means they have to like always have a tail bag in I just dont get it

To me, those are extravagant. I don't think the horse in the third pictures mane is too long really.....I would love for my horses manes to be that long, but the tail is way to long for my liking....I typically won't let my horse's tails touch the ground they are almost to the tops of their rear hooves...at least on my mare and one gelding...the other gelding we had to trim his when we got him cause it was a knotted mess. My friend argues with me that I need to trim them up to their hocks...I like them long...just not too long!

The only thing about long tails is the horse backing up onto it and ripping it all out or getting itself hurt....it's happened before.

I have to trim my mares tail so it doesn't drag on the ground because she has stepped on it before. It's just trimmed a few inches off the ground, but when she gaits she lifts it a bit so she would look funny with a short tail. Her mane on the other hand currently sits at the top of her front leg. I happen to like it that way too. It does take some extra care, but it also works as fly protection in summer

You have to learn how to fall before you can learn how to ride~
