    Help with bugs!

Any suggestions on getting rid of the pesky flies and other bugs? They're eating my horses alive! One of mine is literally scratching herself like crazy, and she has scabs and losing hair on her legs (it's not rain rot. It's bugs.) this year has been really bad with all the rain we've gotten. We keep the barn as clean as we can, but it doesn't seem to be helping. They're sprayed everyday 2x a day with permethrin 10 (i believe that's what it's called, it was recommended by a vet). Anybody have anything else I can try?? I'm desperate for help!!

This is plaguing my TWH, too. Not seeming to bother the others. This is our first summer with her, so I don't know if it is normal or not. I am feeding SimpliFly, and also putting out fly predators, PLUS I put up a Mr. Sticky reel-to reel fly tape, and I think I have fewer flies than last year, but this is also my first year with the barn. I already have bot flies, too.

Costs more to feed the flies than the horses!!!lol

Lol, this is my first year with this filly. First week really, but all have a few bites, she's just the worst. She has a fly sheet, fan, tons of spray, and I'm going to try feeding a little garlic. I hear that helps.

Cover everything that lets light in. I just lightly wiped my horses down with chain oil for the chain on a chain saw. The bugs don't like it and it's a lot cheaper than equine fly spray.

    fly spray

We installed the fly spray dispensers in all of our stalls last year. We bought glade air freshener time dispenser and swapped the nozzles on the fly spray cans..worked great and saved a lot of money. Good luck.
