I usually think horses look silly when they're hogged but he looks adorable. I've been around a bunch of mini's and they always have such thick manes I usually lattice braid them but that doesn't always help. He looks really good in blue too.

Is "hogging" a northern term? I've never heard that expression. It took me a little while to figure out you were talking about roaching the mane.

Thanks =) I don't always like hogged manes but it seems to suit him well. He just wouldn't leave braids in and kept rubbing them. Had to do something.

I'm not sure lol I learned it from this forum hehe. From what I learned hogging is completely shaved and roaching is leaving a mohawk/a few inches long.

Looks very sweet! When his mane grows back it will stick straight up which I always think is super cute! Good decision:)

    hogging/roaching

Well he's a cutie for sure but I don't think I would have hogged him if he was mine. It looks great on cobs but that's all
Could you not have pulled it to thin it out and shorten it or just cut it along with some scissors to maybe 3 or 4 inches long?
At least he's pretty enough to carry it enough

I don't know how to pull a mane and for scissoring it I think it would have looked funny and stuck out to the side it was so thick and poofy. I figure it's hair it'll grow back even if it looks funny for a while, but I think he looks pretty good. I was worried about his ewe neck but it's not as noticeable as he's gotten older/worked so it's not bad =)
