Hoof polish for shows? (and braiding question)

Have a dressage show on Saturday. Heinously nervous. Pretty much squared away but something completely superficial - should I put that hoof polish/varnish/sealant type stuff on my gelding's hooves?

He has two white hooves and two black ones, so I was thinking of just using the clear polish since using black would just look awkward (in my humble opinion).

Also, which mane braids do you use for dressage? Jumper by trade and nature I usually do the bobbins/rosettes (can't think of the technical term.. having a momnesia moment). And I know you don't braid the tail for dressage correct?

I would use black polish on the two black feet, and clear on the white ones.

Sorry, I can't help with the braids, but I do know that you don't braid the tail.

Thanks, I didn't end up not polishing his feet at all. I braided his mane and not his tail.
