I'm thinking of getting a horse vacuum? What do you think? I like the idea of it, and it would help a lot with winter grooming and shedding. Are they worth the money? What's your favorite brand?
I've used two different ones--the Electro-Groom (around the $500-600 mark), which I loved, and mine, a Vac 'n Blow Pro. The latter is decent, but doesn't have as much suction as I'd like.
Even so, it's nice to have for winter grooming when it's too cold to bathe. If you show in the winter and use it often, I recommend going with the more expensive Electro-Groom. It's definitely worth it. I've also heard of people using shop vacs, but I haven't tried that. Posted via Mobile Device
I use a regular shop vac. It's noisy, but I got a second hose for it so I can keep the horses further away. They don't really seem to mind much once they realize it feels pretty good.
A shop vac works pretty well. I had a little one gallon sized wet/dry shop vac just sitting at home and now it has a job as a horse hair dryer. Posted via Mobile Device
You can also see if you can find an old canister vacuum, from the 50/60's as many of those could also be used for this. I have a 40's Filtertex that can.
Go to a vacuum repair shop and see what they have.
