The coat color enhancing supp. Use paprika which is a source of copper. It will not change the pigment on the hair that has grown out as that hair is dead. You can start now on upping the organic copper intake and when the new hair grows in it will help feed the pigment.
So it may help get your winter coat dark if you start it now, but don't truly expect a color change until the spring coat comes in.

She should get shinier and slicker on good feed and fatty acids.

I like using dac Yucca instead. It will not test (capsicum) and if you were to try and just add paprika 1) it can get expensive and 2) if you get any that is spicy it can aggravate any ulcers they may have (since it is just dried, ground pepper).
The copper in the dac is chelated, so it will absorb and utilize well.
All of mine are on dac Bloom or dac Oil year-round no matter what and that is expanded upon based on their needs.

I don't know, she looks beautiful either way. She may have had a more balanced richer diet with her previous owner but short of the bigger belly, she looks pretty healthy with you. I love buckskins of every color from the creamy buttermilk to the dark smooty. You have a very gorgeous girl there. :)

I just took a second look though and I think it might be more than nutritional or environmental issues. It looks like it is just her genetics that lightened her up, IMHO. If you look at the first pictures, she didn't have any guard hairs on her mane and now she has lots. This may be her real color. I don't think that sun bleaching could do that.
