I subject both of my boys to running braids It's alot easier when the mane is longer.

There on the tips of fair fresh flowers feedeth he; How joyous his neigh,
there in the midst of sacred pollen hidden, all hidden he; how joyous his neigh

My pony has a really long thick mane and tail. There was absolutely no way we were going to pull her mane to show her so we did a running braid. It was wonderful, a lot of people commented on how nice it looked.

I've heard of other people doing for shows too. If it's neat it really looks classy but allows the horse to keep a long flowing mane.

Practice! And remember to try keeping it loose enough for your horse to flex his/her neck.

How does one incorporate a poofy forelock into this braid? As in, how do we make it match? Lol not all of our horses are blessed with lovely flowing locks like the horse in the OP.

I like to leave my horse's flowing, but the only way to get it to match is to just single braid it.
