Oh yeah - one rule of thumb when washing a horse is that you always wind up soaked. I don't know why it has to work that way, but it does. It is sort of like washing a dog but 100 times more area and more water.

When you have water and soap on your horse, take a curry comb and curry it around. Rinse well!

Before you begin, take your phone out of your back pocket, and put it FAR away! And I generally do use conditioner on the whole body, I put two big palmsful in a feed bucket, add water, mix, and then pour it over the horse diluted, gives a bit of softening without leaving the coat greasy or slippery....
