my horses tail is kinda dried out so i have been conditioning it everyday and puting babyoil on it and his mane and forlock but it just isnt as pretty as the other peoples horses tail in the videos how do i get it like that??
well if you wash it to much it will get dries out(not basing on what you know who says) but i always noticed that it did take the oils out some. dont worry bout it bud you and picky look great and will do great cant wait!
^ Agreed,
But usually what i do with my horses tail, is i layer it kind of, and trim it, Like i take the tail and go close to the butt and cut in a slant, kind of like doing angled bangs for people ! it looks really nice when they move imo
( makes it harder when you want to braid etc though)
But i would get some spray in detangler and conditioner, with some stuff that you can spray which makes the horse shinyer
But usually the detangler and conditioner leave in spray look great.
As said above you dont want to wash the tail to often
There is this product on the market called "Cowboy's Magic Detangler." It works miracles, but they make many different products, so make sure the one you buy is the detangler. Thoroughly bathe them and then comb a dime size amount of that through both their tail and mane, let it dry and it's STUNNING. You can also dilute it in water and it is BETTER then the shampoo they make. DO NOT buy the shampoo, it's expensive and doesn't work well. The detangler is pricey but AMAZING.
I agree- Cowboy Magic Detangler is amazing! It (obviously) detangles the mane and tail, and makes it shiny and silky and flowing. Just make sure that you put it through the WHOLE tail, including the tail bone, because otherwise it is VERY easy to see where you did and did not put it- the part you put it in is shiny and the part you didn't is completely dull and not as dark.
MTG would probably help a lot, I used to grow out my horse's fly-aways, and a friend used it to make her horse's tail thicker (it looks amazing). But I'll warn you, it smells DISGUSTING, I recommend using rubber gloves to apply it
Baby oil will just attract dirt, so that's probably not a good thing to put on the tail I use MTG. Just rub a little into the tail dock every few days. It's smelly, greasy stuff but it works great. His tail is nice and thick and touches the ground. My big trick is, I never touch it unless we are grooming for a show. No sense pulling out hairs if you're just going out trail riding or schooling in the ring.
buy VO5 leave in spray conditioner for humans. it makes the tail feel amazing and rejuvenates it. that is what i use before and the day of show and its also a detangler.
^ Yeah, I have a fake one for my horse shows heehee!
My only "secret" is I braid my horses tail about once every two weeks and use all the cowboy magic products on it. Braiding it keeps it nicer and less hairs get pulled out that way... i make lots of smallish braids...
eh, I just feel like fake tails are cheating. People put fake tails on Appys all the time, but Appys weren't meant to have too thick of tails in the first place. I don't get it. I would feel much more better knowing my horse's real tail got me a ribbon than a fake one...
If that's the case, then why is everyone so concerned about it? lol. But, I've heard judgeing being more on beauty than talent in some cases, and further more, the judges only look at certain parts of the horse.
Like, if a pretty horse makes more mistakes than an uglier one, the pretty one would probably win anyway.
But I just wouldn't be proud of a fake tail. It's just not the same as a real tail. But I hate it when people do hair extensions and stuff like that too. I don't know, just my opinion =]
well this may not help but, i usually get the shampoo, wash the tail, leave it in for about 2 minutes, and then rinse, then i would comb it through to get all the knots out, re-wash, rinse out, comb through, let it dry and i live in Australia and we get this product called Top Tails, it makes there tail silky, flowy, and looks gorgeous!!! If this doesn't help i am sorry, if it does i am happy!!! Oh andGOOD LUCK AT YOUR SHOW!!!
If your horse doesn't have a nice flowing tail, then a fake one just helps "complete the look", I by no means *like* to have to use one! I work just as hard as everyone else to get a nice tail... and if we shouldn't use fake tails, then why grow a tail at all? you know...? It's a show horse look...
gorgeous horses Bali's tail is even less of a tail than your horses baby tail, and he's 11. I think he got an appy gene when it comes to tails hahahaha some how!
Bali's forelock is wide but not long, it's funny! hahaha
