Ok, so this was my first ever attempt at mane pulling, it was a cold and windy day, so I lunged him to get him all warm and make it easier to pull his mane. I have only ever previously trimmed my horses mane, and I could have done this to Mitch because his mane is medium-thinish, but I decided oh what the heck, if I stuff it up it'll grow back anyway plus I decided I would rather it look more natural rather than a straight line of scissor chops.
(It is slightly longer than the photo's show it to be, still long enough to plait)
What do you guys think of my first attempt? I only did half of it I will do the rest tomorrow, my fingers got sore and it was just getting to cold to finish it. So that's why it suddenly changes length halfway up.

The full length of his mane in real life (pulled part) is now about 3-4 inches. The only reason I pulled it was because its just that muddy around here now I figure it will be easier to maintain a shorter mane for the time being.. I prefer long manes but the mud is turning it into dreadlocks at the moment, so I wanted to keep on top of it.
