Laundry Blue?

I hear of a lot of people using laundry blue to rinse their white or gray horses after a bath. What does it really do?

WHATS REALITY?

I don't know about Laundry Blue... but blueing shampoos really do help brighten gray and white horses. I think it has to do with the way light reflects off of the hair shaft. If a white/gray looks yellowish then the blue "balances" it, for lack of a better word, because blue and yellow are complements when it comes to light. So basically blue light and yellow light make white. So put some blueing shampoo on a yellow stained horse and it will help make them white again.
Mixing Yellow and Blue Light

Be careful though, if it's left on too long your horse might get blue/purple socks :o

I use laundry bluing in a squirt bottle mixed with water to dilute it a bit. Squirt it on, leave it will you wash the rest of the horse then rinse. Your horse will be White as can be!!! I have a black and white Toniano Missouri Fox Trotter. Mostly white....works like a charm!!! This is the ONLY thing I use. No bluing shampoo...I have never had success with this.

I am owned by:

I'm sure the laundry and shampoos work on the same principle... it's interesting the laundry kind works better. I'll have to experiment if I ever get a horse with socks :]

Where do you get laundry bluing? I have been looking for it for a while now and I can't seem to find it anymore in the local supermarket like you used to be able to.

Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Don't be afraid or discouraged by the size of the task, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.
