Long necked horse- short mane or slightly longer

My horse is relatively long, well everywhere! He has a long neck that ties in relatively high to his shoulders. I pulled his mane recently but left it a little long, I'm not sure to go shorter or leave it where it is. So in y'alls experience-short short manes for long necked horses or a little longer? Right now it is about 6 inches long but looks shorter because it's quite thick and "springy"

If you want your horses next to look thicker, pull the mane shorter. If you horse is cresty and you want a thinner looking neck, leave it longer. Because your horses neck is long, I'd leave the mane slightly longer to balance with the length of the neck

I'm wondering if I should do it shorter, I think since his neck is so long it looks a bit skinny even though it is not lacking muscle. So maybe the shorter would balance the neck size with neck length? Hmm

Here's an idea.....pull it longer....eyeball it, take a photo of it.....and try to imagine it a couple of inches shorter.....then decide if you want it shorter...you can pull it twice take a photo for me!!

At 6" you have enough to braid and fold back on itself for english. For Western it's about 4" and banded.

Sorry it's a little dark, he also kept trying to eat my phone lol. I have already pulled it once, looking at the picture I think I might just even it out a little more. Or take off just a little, not sure

ETA It doesn't look very long in the photo, but if I put my hand on it sideways it goes about 2-3" below my hand. But I do have small hands
