Mane just falls out

My mares mane has all of a sudden just started falling out.
She hasn't been wearing a neck rug and from what I can tell she has't been rubbing it. I haven't put anything on it for the past month or so either. When I just run my hand through it or brush it a, whole lot just comes out, roots and all.
Naturally she has a thin mane but it normally grows well.

Have you got any suggestions? I feed her biotin which increases the strength of manes tails and hooves.

Is it falling out in big thick sections? I'm wondering if it's just normal shed...?
