Well any of the ones you plan on showing english you should pull their manes to about 3 - 4 inches long. The one you want to barrel race I would say would be fine with a long or short mane, its just your preference. I don't know anything about gaited western showing so I don't know the norm, but any horse your plan on showing in the english ring should have a short mane.

Thanks! Gaited Western pleasure is like Western pleasure, only the horses do not keep their heads low or travel at a very slow pace, but rather gait without the fancy shoes or fake tails. I'm guessing that means I have to cut/pull and band their manes... however, on a fancy show I saw on television, the horses had natural banded manes...

If you plan on banding a long mane, you really need a good mover to pull it off well.
I'm still not really sure what you mean by gaited wp though. What breeds are your horses?

For the gaited western horses I would do whatever is the norm for the breed of that horse. Im pretty sure walking horses' manes are usually left long for example.
