    Im assuming you're showing APHA? Or similar style? For English, you can either band the mane or do the hunter braids (little tiny braids down the neck) and leave the tail unbraided with the fake tail in. That's how most AQHA/APHA show horses show.

    In shows here fake tails are not aloud so maybe look into it more.
    Your mane should be rosebudded with an uneven number along the neck and preferably put up by sewing the tail should eb french braided also

    Button braids, they're mainly for dressage. I think with what you're looking at showing in, Hunter braids for the mane would work and a french braid in the tail would work and keeping the fake tail in too.
