Nelson stinks.....

OK, this is my opinion, and shun me if you will, but I think the should be a male/female perfume that smells like "horse" id wear it all the time!!

....except for my Adiral Nelson.......

That horse STINKS!!! Don't get me wrong....I wove my wittle powny....but DANG he's a stinky boy!!!

I always thought it was maybe just me imagining things, but whenever I go and play with the horses, I love the scent that's on me....I kinda find it muzing to an extent.....

I bought Nelson a few moths ago, and he's become my buddy, which is all good. His previous owners owned him for a bit over a year (he's 5 now). I asked the previous owner if he like baths, or minded beind sprayed down....she didn't know. Now, maybe this set a president in my mind....but I don't think its me anymore.......

Everytime I go to play with the ponys, I can go play with anyone (we'll say anyone but Nelson) and afterwards, I find a "pleasant eqine scent" about me...or about them, for matter of fact. But when I play with's almost (stress almost) rancid. I don't mean it in a bad way....but I can SURE SMELL the Admiral on a touch more than desirable way!

Do I have a "stinky pony"? Or does the Admiral need to "not be afraid of the soap!"?

Just a side note, since I've owned him, it's been too cold too give 'em a bath. Will this go away after a good scrubbin'?

What do I do??

P.S. He doesn't like Axe....he say's the mares are to pushy when he wears it!!.....

That cracked me up.

It could be that he hasn't had a bath and he would never really get clean. If he was out in all sorts of weather, he sure could be smelly.
(think of a dog that's been outside for a while. They are going to smell, but after a bath, they smell good)

Hopefully after a good scrubbin' he'll smell good.

Could his sheath need cleaning?

Haha, I know exactly what you Friesian yearling is a sweety, but he certainly doesn't SMELL like one! He smells nice after a bath, but give him a month or two (we only have cold water, so not many baths in the winter) and he smells absolutely rank compared to the other horses in the barn. The only thing I can guess is that A) he is unblanketed - unlike many of his stablemates - and has a coat like a bear, and B) he is young, so he is very active when he goes outside.

LOL that's too funny. Haha, some of them do tend to be stinkier than others, hehe! Just give 'em a nice bath- they'll smell better than Axe, trust me! LOL.

OK... so you got him last Fall??? And you're in WI... so Brrrrr, but good cheese.

I'm guessing that he's just smelly from that lovely sweat and fur combo. Once it warms up, I'd call the vet and get a sheath cleaning done..I know not your favorite part of owing horses but it DOES get smelly and he needs it for health.

Then introduce him to the hose and give that boy a bath!!! You may not have success scrubbing him down the first couple times but just a good rinsing will help!

In the mean time, I'd rub him with dryer sheets...he'll be less static-clingy and smell like a warm summer's rain!!! Depending on the brand you use of course

Great idea Dumas' Grrrl! Mine don't smell, but they do get staticy. I'll have to give it a try. Thanks!
