New technique

This is really cool I recently read an article on grooming horses and making them shine for shows and stuff or just to clean off the dirt during the winter time.

It said that you take a damp sponge and run it across your brush during your grooming of your horse. I did it on my horse and he sparkled but he is a pretty healthy horse and sparkles without me doing that. So I decided to take the worst looking of all horses in the pasture and tried and omg it worked really good.

So you guys should try and do it to your horses if you ever want to make sure they sparkle perfectly for a show or something. But yea I just wanted to share what I learned it was really cool. Anybody else got any other grooming techniques you wanna share?

Anyhoo, it was on bathing the mane and tail. They said to not shampoo the long hair. Concentrate on the roots, working a lather at the neck and tail nub and just letting the rinse water/shampoo clean the long hair. Its more important to get it clean at the roots than it is at the ends. I guess I always knew this about humans, just never transfered it to horse hair.

I can't really do that with Vega too well. Silly short mane. But i'll definitely try that with Gem when it gets warmer. (he looks more like a paint than an app now a days thanks to mud)

I have heard of that also. I will go out and try the damp sponge next time I go out to the barn

I also like to use a shammy on my horses after I brush them. Leaves them silky smooth and shiny

I tired to find a Shammy to sew onto the buttocks of a pair of my jeans and I couldn't find one, not even a wal-mart!

Wal-Mart has tons of shammys...They are in the automotive section on the aisle with all the car wash products!

They didn't have the kind like you posted though. They were all disposable or something or another.

Thats cool i'll try to find some shammy's and see how it works.

Oh and I wasn't talking about the washing of the mane and tail I was talking about the coat on the body.
