Alright, so I broke an oath this year. I told myself I would NEVER cut my Haflinger's feather, ever in the history of ever. But I did this year. And not even at gunpoint!
This winter, they seemed to have gotten stained with dirt and poop and general uck. Even after spending 10 minutes scrubbing EACH foot with regular and whitening shampoo, they were still stained. And also, they didn't really fit under her new SMB boots. There were always stray hairs peeking out the edges looking weird. So, I decided to chop them off. I took out the clippers, closed my eyes, and...
Before (yes, this is AFTER the super-bath!):
And After (same leg, same day, same spot, ect. Not even after another bath):
How does she look? This was actually back in April, but I just found the pictures today. I actually already needed to redo them, and did that just today, so if you want to see some full-body pictures, I could get them tomorrow! I really like it. Her leg looks longer and straighter.
No, I'm not trying to convince everyone to chop off the feathers. I just though it was interesting, the difference it made.
