Post and share pictures of all your horses after a good thorough grooming or a really shiney coats and it would be helpful if you wrote how you got your horse so shiney or well-groomed and what you feed your horses on!!
Hopefully this thread will be helpful to you all!
I don't have any before pics from the day of...but here's an after-bath shot.
I shouldn't have been surprised at how calm he was in the wash stall...XD
Pretty much just used some generic horse shampoo and purple for his whites.
He doesn't eat anything particularly special. Purina Equine Senior, [grass]hay, grazing. I'm getting him some probiotics soon to help with his icky poo. I may add something like oil to his feed to make him shinier, but he's pretty anyway XD
Here is my Tennessee Walker's before and after grooming photos! I just curry the heck out of her every time I groom until at least 90% of the dust is gone, and I condition her mane and tail with Fructis Sleek-and-Shine leave-in conditioner. I bathe her only about four times a year. She eats a pound of Strategy Healthy Edge twice a day, and has 20-50mg per day of biotin, depending on how dry her hooves are, along with some loose mineral salt.
In Spring, she is also going to get some paprika for her coat. Otherwise she is out in the pasture all day with a muzzle on eating regular Fescue grass. At night she is in the roundpen because she is an easy keeper and blows up like a balloon if I don't watch it! She loves wet grass or fresh spring grass. But she'll eat every blade in sight if we let her.
Here's my mare, she just eats grass except for in winter when she gets pellets. These photo's are all from this year. She's pastured 24/7 and isn't rugged.
This is the most recent one of Whisks. she has a rug on so that's probably a major factor :P i also try to groom her everyday using a soft body brush. She's not on any extra feeding either.
Edit: the picture in my avatar was her in the summer 2 years ago (i think)
It is very fun when you show your horses in winter because according to your regions the climate seems not to change and the coat not too!
In France where you are for the North or for the South, it is similar!
All the horses look like teddy bears.
Except those who are clipped (?) of course!
He's so much fun to prep!! be better if his coat wasn't still hanging on to the last bits from winter. My lovely stepmother braided him for me and she and dad helped with his makeup.
He is just on oaten chaff, grower and weaner pellets, and sunflower seeds [plus vit/min suppliments] and I barely ever groom him... and he's nekkid at the moment because he's so fat!
First horse is Gent, a paint TB. And i got him this clean by using Quick Color and Quick Silver shampoo, Enfusium (mane and tail) hair conditioning spray, A TON OF ELBOW GREASE, soft brushing, and fly spray.
The second horse is Romeo, a chocolate TB. And i got him that clean by using Quick Color and Quick Black shampoo, Enfusium (mane and tail) hair conditioning spray, A TON OF ELBOW GREASE, soft brushing, fly spray, and color coat supplements
He's nothing fancy. All he gets is a cup of 12% sweet feed and to bring out the shine, I use a regular dog brush, the type with bristles. A once over with that once a week, and he looks like that for days. Posted via Mobile Device
This is Gayle at our only show. I can't even remember her ever being this clean. She got a wash with conditioning shampoo then a wash with fairy liquid then I did her legs again with it, then another wash with tea trea shampoo. When she was dry she had her main and tail conditioned and then in the morning her main and tail redone and then show shine everywhere and show shined again just before her class.
And just for cuteness Gayle with my little sister she is 'her pony'
This is what she is like most of the time, she was just home from babysitting a neighbours pony.
My grey mare really wants to be any other color but grey.
Most people would raise an eyebrow at the after-grooming picture if they hadn't seen the filth before!
Dream is always cleanest after a ride with a lot of water crossings:
